About Alena
Always a mover and athlete, Alena has tasked her body to perform well in challenging physical realms. While screaming down the slopes on a snowboard and navigating the powerful water of whitewater rivers was easy in her 20’s, these activities caught up with her. Since she still loves to challenge her body in the adventurous outdoors - now including kiteboarding, mountain biking and paddle boarding - she found that a dedication to keeping her body balanced through bodyweight training, mindful movement, and pilates helps to keep her balanced in order to feel good doing the sports that she loves.
She loves to share the knowledge and sense of well being that come with taking care of ones body, helping people move more efficiently and with less discomfort.
After 13 summer seasons on the glorious island of Nantucket, Alena is residing in Nyack NY.

About the Work
Movement, Pilates, and bodywork are the Foundation. The base of inner strength from which you can lead the most active life that you desire.
Alena’s mentors include:
Kelly Kane, and Rael Isacowitz - who have shared their perspectives on the work of Joseph Pilates, a most ingenious personal trainer. “Joe” pulled from many exercise methodologies including gymnastics, boxing, dance and yoga to created a routine now taught in mat classes in studios and gyms around the world. For those who needed a little support, he constructed equipment with springs and straps to allow access to muscles that one might not be able to target with full body weight. The Pilates method demands movement from the center of the body, intentional yet efficient movement, and encourages core stability and balance.
Ido Portal - a movement master with a global following.
Blending the rhythmic acrobatics movement of capoeira, with strength training, coordination challenges and mobility techniques, Ido has gathering a following of movement practitioners who benefit from a well rounded, full body and mind practice and dedication to their bodies.
Gary Ward - an insightful mapper of how the body moves through gait.
Looking through a bio mechanical lens at how the body ‘should ideally move’ during the phases of the gait cycle, the Anatomy in Motion (AiM) methodology seeks to smooth out the glitches that prevent the body from moving efficiently through our most used movement.
Jordan Terry - a teacher of cranial-sacral therapy and of the ….
Bringing into light the role of the cranial bones and their relationship through the spine to the pelvis, and into the rest of the body.
Jamie Francis - a guide to the subtleties of energetics and how it affects our body.
Delving into the energetics of the body, mind and spirit, she bridges the gap between our pain that is rooted in the emotional body as well as in the physical body.
